Granville Blocked Drain
Todd was quite the home handyman and enjoyed watching his kids play in the backyard. He decided to embark on his most ambitious project yet, building his kids their own cubby house. He looked on the internet for hours to get plans and ideas of a variety of cubby houses and ideas to create his kids the best play area of all time.
He decided to build a service station/cubby house. The ‘shop’ would be the cubby house and he would build petrol bowsers at the front so they could pretend to fill their bikes and cars with petrol. His brother was a carpenter so he was able to help Todd with the plans and the timber required to build the shop and then figure out how they would build the bowsers.
He was also going to need to lay a slab of concrete so he enlisted the help of a few mates to do some of the heavy lifting and help to get the slab laid over a weekend. The good thing was all of their kids could play in the cubby house together.
They had hired a cement mixer and there was a team of four guys that worked really hard to lay the foundations of the cubby. One of his mates had some building experience so he was able to assist the guys with the slab.
They were cleaning up as they went so as not to make too big of a mess and Rob hosed off the patio pavers after he had a bit on an accident with an open bag of cement mix. Over the next week, Todd and his brother stated to build the cubby and it was looking great.
There was a break in construction due to some heavy rain. It rained steadily for a few hours and Todd noticed the drain in the backyard was overflowing. It was the first time this had happened. He tried to free the top of the drain of any leaf letter but that didn’t make any difference, the water level was rising and threatened to flood the back of the house.
He couldn’t wait any long and called Your Neighbourhood Plumber Granville. He needed the drain cleaned quickly. The plumber arrived and used a water jetter to attempt to clear the blockage. He reported that there was something solid in the drain so he worked very hard to punch through the blockage.
After some time he finally got it clear, upon further investigations Todd discovered that Rob’s little cement accident that he washed down the drain had actually blocked the storm water and caused the overflow. He was lucky that the blockage was cleared without the drain needing to be dug up.
